Piece of Positivity 9•15•14

I spent a good fifteen years of my life excelling at the quiet game. So, I understand that walking up to a stranger and saying "hello" can be terrifying.

"Hello" can be the start of a lifelong friendship. Whenever I see someone alone at the bus stop or simply find myself sitting next to a fellow quiet kid, I try to greet them. Sometimes, that is all it ever is: a one-time greeting. Other times
, it flourishes into a full-on conversation that leads to a great friendship.

What changed in me between my quiet days and now? I realized that you tend to regret what you don't say more than what you do say. On top of that, I learned how similar we all are. We all have our differences, but in the end, we all just want someone who accepts us for who we are.

There is not a single person I regret talking to. Everyone has something great to offer, whether it's their humor, intelligence, positive outlook, generosity, etc.

Starting the conversation can be intimidating, but more times than not it is worth it.

Tomorrow, whether it is at school or at work, try to say hello to just one random person. It just might make their entire day.
